River & Mountain Midwives bill prenatal care, labor, and birth as on out of network benefit with all insurance carriers including Medicaid. Our dedicated team of billers work dilligently to receive the maximum reimbursement from your insurance plan to reduce out of pocket expenses for your birth.

How much will I pay out of pocket for my home birth?

Out of pocket expenses will vary based on your insurance plan. Deductibles and co-insurance play a role in determining what the total out of pocket cost will be for your home birth. Our billers work very hard to get the maximum reimbursement from your health insurance plan.

What's included in the fee?

All prenatal visits, the birth, newborn care, and postpartum visits are included in our total fee. Additionally we provide you with a birth kit, and many supplies needed for your home birth. We also offer a comprehensive childbirth and breastfeeding class held by our childbirth instructor Fannie.

When is payment due?

After your intial interview we require a $500 retainer to initiate care in our practice. Any additional out of pocket expenses we determine you have will be outlined in a payment arrangement agreement. Balances are to be paid in full by 34 weeks pregnant. Failure to pay these fees may result in termination of care and an inability of our Midwives to attend your birth.

Well woman and gynecologic care

We have parterened with many local insurance companies to offer well woman and gyencologic care billed through insurance as an in network benefit.
